Is End of Abyss on Nintendo Switch?
The short answer: no. As of October 2026, End of Abyss has not been announced for the Nintendo Switch, and the developer's own platform list does not include it. The game was revealed with an official trailer at Summer Game Fest 2026, and every storefront and listing since then points to the same set of launch platforms.
Here is the full platform picture in one table:
| Platform | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Epic Games Store) | Confirmed | Timed exclusive, no Steam page at launch |
| PS5 | Confirmed | Listed in official release info |
| Xbox Series X/S | Confirmed | Listed in official release info |
| Nintendo Switch | Not announced | No official listing or statement |
| Steam | Not available | Epic exclusivity confirmed via official short link |
Because the game is unreleased, third-party sites may claim to offer an "End of Abyss Switch download" or ROM. These are not legitimate. Only trust the official Section 9 Interactive website and the Epic Games Store product page.
If you searched for "End of Abyss switch" hoping for a handheld port, the realistic comparison is with other dark sci-fi Metroidvanias of this scope, which usually skip or delay Switch versions due to performance demands. A Switch 2 port after launch is plausible, but treat any specific claim as rumor until Section 9 Interactive confirms it.
Where to Play End of Abyss Instead
Since the Switch is off the table at launch, your options come down to three platforms. Each has trade-offs worth knowing before you commit.
PC via Epic
- Epic Games Store exclusive at launch
- Best frame rates and visual settings
- Requires Epic Games Launcher
PlayStation 5
- Console version with strong hardware headroom
- Ideal for TV and horror atmosphere
- Watch the PlayStation Store page
Xbox Series X/S
- Series X offers higher fidelity
- Series S is a budget-friendly entry point
- Check Xbox Store closer to release
| Factor | PC (Epic) | PS5 | Xbox Series X/S |
|---|---|---|---|
| Storefront | Epic Games Store | PlayStation Store | Xbox Store |
| Performance ceiling | Highest | High | High (X) / Medium (S) |
| Handheld option | Via Steam Deck-style devices only if supported | PS Portal remote play | Cloud/remote play |
| Exclusivity note | Epic timed exclusive | N/A | N/A |
If you specifically wanted Switch for handheld play, monitor Section 9 Interactive's announcements after launch. Horror Metroidvanias from small studios occasionally add Switch ports once PC performance is stable, but do not buy hardware expecting a port.
Step-by-Step: Getting Ready for Launch
Verify the Official Sources
Bookmark the official Section 9 Interactive site and the Epic Games Store page. Ignore any Switch or Steam listing that appears before an official announcement.
Watch the Reveal Trailer
Search "end of abyss official trailer" on YouTube for the Summer Game Fest 2026 reveal to confirm tone, gameplay style, and platform branding for yourself.
Choose Your Platform
Pick between Epic (PC), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S based on your hardware. Weigh the Epic launcher requirement against console convenience.
Track Pre-Order News
Follow the official channels for pre-order dates, pricing, and any last-minute platform additions as the 2026 release approaches.
Re-Check for a Switch Port
After launch, re-check the official site periodically. Any port news will appear there first, well before retailer listings update.
Players who follow official channels only avoid fake listings entirely. One verified source beats a dozen aggregator claims for an unreleased game.
End of Abyss Switch Rumors vs. Facts
Unreleased games attract speculation, and the "switch" keyword gets a lot of search traffic for titles that never arrive on the platform. Here is how the rumors stack against what is actually confirmed.
| Claim | Status | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| "End of Abyss is on Switch" | False | No official listing exists |
| "It's a Switch 2 launch title" | Unverified rumor | No developer statement supports this |
| "You can download a Switch ROM" | Fake/scam | Game is unreleased; no legitimate ROM exists |
| "It's on Steam" | False at launch | Epic exclusivity confirmed by official short link |
| "PC, PS5, Xbox release in 2026" | Confirmed | Matches official release info |
Fake "Switch download" pages targeting anticipated horror games commonly distribute malware. Never enter payment or account details on a site claiming to sell an End of Abyss Switch key.
